Foil Moons
This month we were working on the theme All about Space. The kids really enjoyed this theme. One of the activities that we were able to do for all levels of development was foil moons. It is a great activity for infants, toddlers, preschool and school-age kids. In this activity we crumbled up a piece of foil to use to dip into the paint. We mixed black and white paint to make a dark gray. We then took our crumbled foil and dipped it into the paint to give the moons we cut out a textured look. I will attach a link for a free download for the moon we used to cut out.
Materials Needed To Complete Foil Moons Activity
- Scissors
- Black Paint
- White Paint
- Yellow Paint
- White Paper or Colored Paper
- Glue
- Foil
- Coffee Filter (Put the paint in; Makes for an easy clean up)
First you will take your foil and stamp it all over your moon (you can trace a circle or print out a download). I had the kids mix together white and black paint to make a darker gray. We use coffee filters to put the paint on because it makes for an easy clean up at the end.
Once they have their moons decorated the way they want it to look like, then you can cut it out and paste it on black construction paper.
Lastly, I have the kids decorate around the moon with stars. We used white and yellow paint to make our stars.
This activity is super easy and fun! Enjoy
